Lacewing

For me, Bruce Arnold’s opening guitar figure summoned up the flight of a tiny winged creature and vocalist Judi Silvano’s entrance continued this delicate reference. It recalled my early childhood memory of summers in the country, when after chasing lightning bugs till dark, I would come inside and see Lacewings trapped inside by window screens. These nocturnal insects can be seen from dusk to dawn, as they feast on flower nectar and pollen. Their pale green translucent wings and copper eyes give them an especially fragile beauty. The video “Lacewing” is my homage to both lace and lacewings with motifs of classic embroidered lace depicting clouds, forests, flowers and fields in sunlight that wanes night. Bruce and Judi create music describing the energy of that day, ending with a gentle goodnight diminuendo.
